Xiom has developed a wide variety of functional and architectural coatings for use with the Xiom 1000. More than 25 completely unique types of coatings are available and the number is growing.

The Xiom coatings are proprietary, meaning they are specially formulated to work with the Xiom 1000 equipment. Regular powder coatings will not work with the system. The unique flame application system makes it possible for our coatings engineers to infuse or mix powders with other particles that provide unique properties to a finished coating.

For example, special grit particles can be deposited along with plastic particles to provide a non-slip surface on steps, stairs, ladders, walkways, heavy truck fenders, or any place where slips and falls are a concern. And unlike anti-slip tape, the grit particles are embedded right into the plastic, giving them a long lifespan.

Product Spotlight: XT490 - Glow in the dark

XT490 is a special glow-in-the-dark coating that can be applied just like any other Xiom coating. Just a few minutes of exposure to light or heat each day recharges the phosphorescent glow. When fully charged, this coating will glow brightly for about 4 hours and then taper off in intensity for up to 8 more hours.

“Glow in the dark” surfaces aren’t new, but the ability to make virtually any surface, anywhere glow is new. Glow-in-the-dark handrails, exit signs and marked pathways will make emergency escape routes easy to find and follow in schools, apartment complexes and commercial buildings. Traffic signs, building addresses and street signs will be visible even at night

XT490 can also be applied to light switches, paving stones, decorative rocks, circuit breaker panels, or even toilet seats (really!) to give indication of danger/safety when no light is present.
